Women’s Cricket

When Norwood entered a women’s team into Cricket Victoria’s East Women’s competition in the 2017/18 season it was a great moment for the club.  What many didn’t know was that Norwood had fielded a women’s team nearly 40 years earlier. 1979 to be exact, when the colloquially named “Knockers” competed in a match versus the Wonga Park “Wobblers”.

Since the 2017/18 season Norwood’s women’s team has gone from strength to strength, growing in numbers and skills. With the introduction of the girls teams in our junior club, a second women’s XI won’t be too far away.
